Day 1 – Airport / Colombo
Airport transfer to a Hotel in Colombo. “Colombo is a fascinating city not only for a comfortable blend of east & west, but also a cosy mixture of past & present. It is the commercial hub of the country & is only 34 Km from the airport. Places of interest are the Galle Face Green, the Fort, Pettah, Town Hall, Independence Memorial Hall etc” Overnight stay in Colombo.
Day 02 - Colombo / Kitulgala
Leave Colombo after breakfast for Kitulgala. Visit Beli lena caves. “This is a famous cave where the 12,000 year old skeletal remains of the Balangoda Man (Homosapiens Balangodensis) were found. Also found here are the waste parts of the food consumed by them. The floor is strewn with shells of river snails, which seems to have been a major part of their diet. This is a very large cave with a vast space inside where about a thousand people can gather easily”. Overnight stay at Kitulgala.
Day 03 - Kitulgala
After breakfast White water Rafting at kitugala. Evening at your leisure. “The Kelani river graded 2/3 rafting site stretches for six kilometers with seven exciting rapids namely, Teaser, Virgin’s Breast, Butter Crunch, Killer Fall, White Quarter, Head Chopper and Rafter’s Quarter. A briefing is given prior to running in the river with instructions on paddling techniques and “Man overboard Procedures “. Dinner & Overnight stay at Kitulgala
Day 04 - Kitulgala / Haldummulla
After breakfast leave to Haldamulla and you would Trek from Haldamulla to Babarakanda water falls. You also have an option to trek up to Horton Plains Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.
Day 05- Haldummulla / Horton Plains / Nuwara Eliya
After early breakfast leave for Horton Plains. Here you will trek to world ends, Bakers falls and to Kirigalpotta. “The rugged mountain route to the plains is a tough drive; but the hauntingly beautiful surroundings & majestic scenery will keep them enthralled throughout the journey. Horton Plains is a highland plateau comprising montane grassland and elfin forest. It is home to a large variety of endemic birds & flora. The full day nature trail covering World’s End, a scenic viewpoint with a dramatic drop & Baker’s Falls is approximately 18-20Km in total”. Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.
Day 06 - Horton Plains / Nuwara Eliya
Leisure at the hotel. “The center of the hill country also called the “Hill station” in British colonial jargon. This ruggedly picturesque location almost 6200 feet in elevation with it’s soft English spring climate is very English in it’s landscape & buildings; which of course was started by the British, who made it their hill resort, during their rule in Sri Lanka.” Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya
Day 07 - Nuwara Eliya / Randenigala
After breakfast leave to Randenigala. Visit the Randenigala & Rantamba Dams. Overnight stay at Randenigala.
Day 08 - Randenigala / Mahiyanganaya
After breakfast you will trek up the Babiya Mountain. Depending on your physical fitness it would take 04 to 06 hours. Return and relax. Optional river bath possible. Overnight stay at Randenigala.
Day 09 - Mahiyanganaya / Kandy
After breakfast leave to Kandy to visit the Kandy temple and a city tour. Kandy City Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, which fell to the British in 1815. This hill capital is situated in a valley 1600 feet above sea level, surrounded by mountains & virtually encircled by the scenic Mahaweli river; the longest in Sri Lanka. Due to it’s Its cultural and religious significance UNESCO designated the Sacred City of Kandy as a World Heritage Site in 1988. Dalada Maligawa The Sacred Tooth Relic (Dâlada) of the Buddha is the most venerated object of worship for Buddhists. Its present house, the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Dâlada Mâligâwa) in Kandy, Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is considered the foremost sacred place of worship in the Buddhist world. Built in the Sinhalese architectural style in the 16th century, the temple originally was within the king’s palace complex, because it was a symbol of royal authority. Today, the temple is controlled by layman, the Diyawadne, elected by the high priests of the Malwatte and Asgiriya monasteries in Kandy. Overnight stay at Kandy.
Day 10 - Kandy / Colombo
Leave Kandy to Colombo en-route you will visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphange. “This is an orphanage for baby elephants set up by the National Zoological Gardens. The orphanage was established to feed, nurse & house young elephants found abandoned by their mothers. Often the young ones fall into pits & ravines in their quest for water during periods of drought. Other inmates at the orphanage are those displaced from their natural environment by development projects or those found diseased or wounded. The feeding and bathing times are the highlight of the day’ Overnight stay in Colombo.
Day 11 - Colombo / Airport
Leave Colombo on time to the airport for your flight.
